Our main dance teachers in 2024 are Brazilian dancers Luciano Souza and Ale Jansen, and the bateria will be led by Marcus Vinicius Sherman.

The evening parties at Restaurant Musine will feature performances by Duo Rio, Mirkka & Forró Friends, Makkia Dancers, Maravilha Do Samba & Friends Samba Show , and Samigo & Samba Amigos. Additionally, DJ Pedrosa and DJ Klaus Wing will entertain us at Restaurant Musiness and Bar Bizarre.

During the event, there will also be an opportunity to explore Bronislav Dolgopyat's new photography exhibition about Brazil.

Word from the Artistic Director of SSW:

As an evolutionary leap, Super Samba Weekend 2024 is not only a "samba camp" but also a "mini-festival" and, on top of that, a promoter of social dialogue through a joint seminar organized with the city and parish of Salo.
As in previous years, the purpose of SSW is to create an environment for experiential learning with the guidance of world-renowned teachers and to enjoy Afro-Brazilian culture together in a broad and diverse way.

Teachers

M.V. Sherman

Marcus Vinicius Sherman comes from Mangueira, Rio de Janeiro, and has had a long career as a highly regarded samba musician and instructor of Brazilian music. He has been a trusted tamborim player in the world-famous Mangueira and Portela samba schools. During Super Samba Weekend, MV Sherman aims to create a supportive environment for everyone, from beginners to more advanced participants.

Ale Jansen

Ale Jansen is a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer from Rio de Janeiro, where she has worked with more than 15 samba schools over the years. She is also the co-founder of the global online samba school Poderosas do Samba with Alex Coutinho, and she has traveled the world teaching and performing samba.

Luciano Souza

Luciano Souza comes from Salvador, Bahia, and he has had a long international career as a professional dancer with Balé Folclórico da Bahia and with the Disney musical The Lion King. Luciano teaches and performs Afro and Brazilian dances and aims to educate international audiences about the origins and development of Brazilian movement, identity, and Afro heritage.
